Happy Monday, beautiful!

If you follow me on social media, then you'd know that I've been sick. It first started as a cold that my step-daughter brought home and you know how that goes! Eddie caught it and then I did, one family thing I hate sharing, lol! That's the reason I hadn't posted anything on here since last Wednesday and a YouTube video didn't go up. At this point, my throat has been hurting a lot and much of my voice has left and I think it wasn't the best idea for me to shoot today's look outside without a coat! The things we do for fashion, uh! Well, I'm trying to minimize my talking, since I will be recording and uploading this week's video towards the end of the week. Speaking of videos, a huge thank you to all of you who entered my giveaway! I will be announcing the winner in this week's video, but remember, even if you didn't win, you still have the opportunity to save 40% off your total order when you use coupon code: JALISASFILES, until 01/31!

Onto today's look. I used some of the colors associated with winter, blush pink, taupe, and black. I absolutely love these three colors together. I think the blush and taupe give a feminine feel, while the addition of black can add a bit of edginess. What inspired this entire outfit was the tartan scarf itself. It was a gift from my mom. What I love about, other than the colors themselves, is the combination in the form of tartan. It's an unusual use of colors for this pattern, one that I haven't yet seen before. This scarf is and the turquoise ring are the only two new items featured in the look. The rest of the outfit consists of pieces I've had for years and years. I purchased the cardigan from Victoria's Secret a long time ago and it's so comfy. I actually like many of VS's clothing and have found them to be of pretty good quality. The jeans I'm wearing are from New York & Company, before I feel they perfected their denim fit. The reason I say this is because, while I had always experienced a great fit in their jeans around the booty and thighs, the waist would sometimes be larger in some of their denim collections. Now, I feel, based on my personal experience and my mom, the waist fits better, allowing me to ditch the belt. I've read some reviews and not everyone is fond of their latest SOHO collection, but I love it and would definitely suggest it to all my curvier ladies! Just keep in mind that they tend to stretch after wearing them for a period of time, so I'd suggest ordering or purchasing a size smaller.

I hope this post helped and provided you with a style idea for your next look. Remember, you don't have to recreate the entire look; you can use it as inspiration to create a different style, while selecting the same color combinations.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you in my next post!

It's snowing!!!! You know, I was just talking to my husband and mom the other day about how warm it was (it was 60 on Sunday!) and how we may not even have a winter...guess mother nature had a way of showing who's boss, while stuffing my mouth with snow, lol! I do get excited for the snowfall, but I must admit, once you have to drive and walk in it, it does become a bit annoying, ah...such pros and cons of living in NY, huh?!

These photos were obviously taken before the snow fell and I felt rather glamorous in this number; I mean fur (faux) has a way of making the ordinary girl like you and I, feel so luxurious, doesn't it? This one in particular is one of those flashy yet chic pieces I have, which has lasted me about 10 years! Can you believe it? 10 years ago faux fur bombers were all the rave and I loved it so much, I actually have it in black as well, that I kept it over the years and broke it out for the first time in what seems like forever! I was 17 when I was gifted this by my now husband, Eddie, and I feel that I just didn't know how to wear it back then and I'm thankful I kept it. On that note, fur pieces (I prefer faux), are one that can be kept for years and years. You never have to worry about them going out of style because they won't, they're classic, chic, and timeless. Three combinations that are essential to any true fashionista's wardrobe!

If you're one who finds fur pieces a little too much or intimidating, there are sooo many options out there for you to grow in your comfort level with. You can simply start off with a fur vest, which I have a YouTube video on how to wear (WATCH HERE), which by the way is prompting me to do a video on how to wear fur coats. There are also so many colors to choose from, all of which exude different styles and vibes. I understand white can be a bit much, but it's perfect for all of you fashion lovers who love to make a lasting statement at fashion week or at an event. For everyday wear, try selecting more subtle colors, such as black and various shades of brown.

I hope this post was of help! I now need to head out and drive in this mount of snow, not looking forward to it!

Happy Monday!

I'm glad to be back after enjoying the holiday season with my family; I hope you all enjoyed the moments with your loved ones as well!

Today's look is very edgy, a look I love to experiment with. You, however, shouldn't feel intimidated by a look that features such edge and roughness, after all, the whole tough girl empowerment movement is on the rise (thank you Tris Prior from the movie Divergent, if you haven't seen it, it's a must! ). There are certain textures and pieces that can help add that edgy element to an otherwise casual, everyday look. One of which is a great fitting leather jacket of course! I say great fitting because there are so many different styles and sizes, which can certainly effect the vibe we want to achieve in this case. For example, a leather trench coat may not entirely give off the whole tough girl vibe, rather a more chic and sophisticated one. Another reason a great fitting jacket is a must is because if it doesn't fit us well, then we're not going to feel and look confident in it, which is apart of the whole edgy vibe. If you're not feeling it, then no one else will! My suggestion for all ladies, regardless of body shape, would be to opt for a leather jacket that falls no longer than your hip bones.

The second essential would be some studs, spikes, and metals. When you think of all of these, I'm sure you somehow correlate them to rocker like vibes and that's what we're going for. The amount you decide to wear depends on your comfort level and how much you want to enhance the look. This is also the perfect time, I feel, to experiment with mixing metals if you're unsure as to how they'd look together on you. This will just tie in with the whole, "I don't care, I'm a tough girl" vibe, lol!

Below are some leather jacket suggestions I came up with for the different body shapes. Each section features real leather, as well as faux. Take a look at what I've selected for your fabulous figure:

PEAR SHAPES

APPLE SHAPES

RECTANGULAR SHAPES

HOURGLASS SHAPES

Hey Girlies,

Welcome back! Today's look is rather preppy, a style you don't see me sporting too often, although I am a fan. If you've been following me for a while, you'd know that my overall style is pretty eclectic, so I do experiment with different looks and trends quite often. I decided to create a look that features a warmer and earthier toned palette, perfect for this time of year. I personally love burgundy and olive, a combination that I feel is rather rich and somewhat luxurious.

When we think of preppy, we often think of button down shirts under jumpers, patterns such as: plaid, gingham, argyle, or cardigans draped over the shoulders, so there is a bit of layering that's present. With this, a bit of a problem can arise in which we ask ourselves, "do I look too bulky?" Depending on your body shape and height, you may want to consider the materials you want to work with in creating this collegiate style. If the jumper (pull over) is thick in fabric, the addition of a button down collared shirt underneath can further exaggerate your upper body in a way that's not necessarily flattering for your figure. In the case of the pear shape, it may be ideal to work with a thicker jumper, since it'll help to balance out your hips by creating more volume or dimension up top. On the other hand, if you tend to have a more voluptuous or fuller upper body compared to your lower, in the case of the apple or inverted triangle, you may want to consider working with a thinner sweater; it'll prevent you from appearing top heavy. For the rectangular and hourglass shapes, it's pretty much what you prefer, since both your upper and lower portions are fairly balanced.

In regards to height, if you are petite and an apple shape, I would once again suggest working with a thinner sweater and one that has a v-neck to help lengthen the base of the body visually. When petite, it's easier to create a more exaggerated effect, whether that's the goal or not, so always consider this when creating an outfit.

So contrary to your belief, everyone can pull off this stye, regardless of your figure or height, as mentioned. One last thing to consider is the bottoms you select to pair with your layered shirt and sweater. If you a have fuller bust, perhaps you want to select a bottom that is lighter in color and experiment with the darker and richer tones up top. The lighter bottoms will help to highlight your lower body and prevent your upper from steeling the entire show. It's not about not embracing your figure, it's about maintaining and creating proportions, which always creates a chic and well put together look, as if your clothing have been tailored for your body.

I hope you all found this post helpful! Are you getting ready to ring in the New Year? Any New Year's resolutions? Feel free to share in the comments' section, I'd love to know!
