  • There's NO Place Like Home

    09. 02. 15.

    Hello my beauties!

Are we having a good week so far?! Can you believe we're already half way through the week AND in September (my birthday month, yay)?! My gosh time is flying by! I think that was the most exclamation points I ever used in one line, haha. Anyway, onto the post.

There have been a few times Eddie has presented the idea of moving out of state to me and each time I've turned his proposition down (kindly and in love of course ;) I mean, I'm a born and raised New Yorker and quite frankly, there's no other place like it, it's home to me! I grew up as an inner city kid (The Bronx) and have fond memories of playing all the outdoor games until dusk; jump rope, manhunt, oh the memories I'm getting right now! We never stayed inside when I was a kid, in fact we didn't even have cable, no one on my block did. We were always playing and using our imaginations and sometimes, getting into some trouble with the seniors (I admit, I was often the culprit). Plus, I like that we experience the fullness of each season and what it has to offer, although there have been times when that goes completely out the window when we get those intense winter snow storms. What's fun about shoveling snow off your car early in the morning in below zero weather as it snows?! But it's home, so I tolerate it. Will I change my mind one day, I don't know. All I know is that now, I have no intention. I'm sure many of you can relate. Even if you've moved, your current location is nothing like home and it will never be. That's what makes it so special.

A couple of months ago, The Home T reached out to me to collaborate on this post and sent me this shirt of the state of New York. I loved the concept, of course, plus I was pleased to learn that they donate a minimum of 10% of their profits to multiple sclerosis research. My mom volunteers and mentors for a program for disadvantage youth here in NYC, many of which are in the foster care system, and her mentee has MS. So this collab hit home, literally! Be sure to check them out, I'm absolutely loving this T (here) how cute is it?!

I would love to know where YOU are all from, so please let me know in the comment's section! As well as if you've moved or if you ever thought about it.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by and I hope your day is awesome!

  • NO Butts About It!

    09. 01. 15.

Happy Tuesday my beautiful and inspiring ladies!

Is it just me or have you noticed that having a large butt has been all the rave?! I know I'm not the only one. No matter where I look, I see some photo or article centered around how to get a "bubble butt" or the "perfect" booty and I am really disgusted by this recent phenomenon. The reason is because of the message it portrays and the pressure that comes along with it. Women are actually dying because they've attempted to get a quick fix butt injection or surgery that went wrong. Now, if that's something you're considering, I by all means am not judging you. I just want you to make sure you're doing it because that's something you truly want, not because society is making you feel the need to. I mean, we're being told we should love our bodies and embrace them, regardless of size, but at the same time, we're being told that the bigger the better (which should be accompanied by an ample bust and teeny waist) by those same sources, a perfect example of true media contradiction.

I'm not saying wanting to enhance a certain area of your body or work on toning up your booty is wrong (I love my squats!), of course not, shoot I wear a gel bra with wire pushup, haha! In fact, that's what I'm all about! I have a passion for empowering women to dress their body shapes through the art of styling and often suggest tips on how to make the bust or booty appear larger with those tips, if those are areas that you are insecure about or just want to enhance. The reason I do this is so you can feel more confident in your clothing and about yourself in general. This, sadly, isn't the motive of those who are pushing the bigger butt message in our faces.

So I pose this question to you, do you truly love your body? ALL of it and for what it is? I have struggled with loving all of mine for years, but dressing for my pear shape body has helped in giving me more confidence overall, especially since it has given me an understanding of why certain styles of clothing don't look best on my shape. It's prompted me to find alternatives and being okay with that; this is why I think knowing and dressing for our body shape is so important. It gives us a better understanding of ourselves and when we understand ourselves more, there's an empowerment that comes along with it, which is pretty awesome! Speaking of, there will be some pretty major changes to take place here that will have to do with this very big passion of mine, so stay tuned; I'm beyond thrilled!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I truly hope you found this article inspirational, please pin or share it if it did! I hope you all have an amazing rest of the day :)

    Happy Monday beautiful friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are refreshed for an amazing week; I trust it will be for all of us :)

You've definitely seen me sport this flirty little number a few times, styled in different ways, but this time around I wanted to try something different by adding a brooch. Pins are currently growing in popularity in street fashion, as are patches. I actually had intentions of creating a statement necklace with a bunch of vintage brooches, but it's crazy how difficult they are to find! All of the vintage/thrift shops I've gone to in search for some, have none at all or some really ugly looking ones (sorry grams)! I managed to discover two and this one was actually given to me by my step-daughter as a Mother's Day gift. Can you believe she found it at a school holiday fair?! I thought it would add some character to this super cute lace skater dress, enhancing the feminine feel, what do YOU think?! Speaking of skater dresses, they flatter every body shape, so when you see a cute or versatile one, snag it, you'll get tons of use out of it because it's practical and it'll make your bod look fabulous ;)

I hope you found some inspiration in this post. If your grandma or mom has some brooches laying around, I would definitely recommend you start asking for those little treasures. Not only will they hold a sentimental value to you, they are super cute on practically everything and like I said, you could even construct a beautiful and unique statement necklace out of them; hopefully you'll have better luck at than I have so far!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
