Hey Babes,

If you're a subscriber to my YouTube channel, then you most likely watched my video "How to Select the Right Nude Shoe for Your Skin Tone: The Perfect Match." In the video, I explained and demonstrated that there are more than one shade of nude, as it pertained to shoes. I felt the need to address this topic because often times when nude is mentioned, it's often in a lighter shade, leaving women of color wondering what their options are, if any. Well, this morning I came across an article on Who What Wear that discussed a new lingerie and underwear line, Nubian Skin. The line was created last year by Ade Hassan based in the U.K. In such a short time, the brand exploded in popularity by women of color feeling as though their prayers were finally answered on this issue. I mean, there is more than one "nude" shade and many underwear brands have not considered this. Word spread to the women of color in the U.S, where they've waited up to three weeks for their orders! Here's some good news ladies, the brand has now been officially introduced to the U.S. and has hit Nordstrom shelves (can be found here)! Although the entire collection is not currently sold at Nordstrom, there is definitely talks of expanding the product line.

I'm so glad to see that someone saw a need and took action in this area because every woman of size and color should have options and many for that matter!

Happy Hump Day ladies,

As many of you know, especially if you follow me on Instagram, I love nature! I love to be surrounded by all sorts of flowers and plants, so I do tend to gravitate a lot towards floral prints. I didn't realize how many florals I had until recently and this skirt is by far my favorite because it features roses and has a very Dolce & Gabbana feel to it. The rose is often tied to romance and love and because of that, it would be perfect for a date night. I decided to pair it with this cut out body suit because it also has a bit of feminine touch and because it's black, it allows for the red roses to truly pop. As for the shoes, I decided to wear my summer favorite at the moment, these green iridescent pair. They helped to pull out the green stems on the skirt a bit more. To finish off the look, I decided to ditch the basic black clutch and wear this red hot piece that has a bit of spikes. I feel it accurately depicts nature, a rose among thorns.  It also tells the story of love that even though it can be beautiful to be in love, it can also be a little painful (not necessarily in a bad way). In a way that love challenges us to be less self-centered and more on the other person's needs and support their passions as much as ours, which in the beginning can be a bit painful to our nature.

As this look pertains to body shapes, I feel it would work for all shapes and heights. The reason is that the body suit is black, yet has enough detail to balance out the attention of the skirt, which is high waisted and can conceal a larger midsection. It can also emphasize or create attention to the waistline. Plus, it makes the legs appear longer.

I hope you loved the look and perhaps it gave you an idea on what to wear if you have a date lined up this weekend. If not the print, at least consider the color pairing, red and black are timeless and ultra feminine and chic ;)

Hey Beauties,

I'm sure many of you saw the gorgeous pieces that graced the Dior runway for the Dior Couture show yesterday. My Instagram feed was flooded with such gorgeous shots of colorful and statement pieces, which had me swooning! I'm such a huge fan of Dior, their pieces are always so beautiful and are a perfect balance of classy-chic and modern. To celebrate the success of their show and because Dior has been on my mind more than usual as a result, haha, I put together a collage of my favorite Dior purses at the moment (I adore their bags). I have yet to add a Dior purse to my collection, but I'm certainly planning on it and as indecisive as I am, I have a lot to choose from!

What did you all think of the show and the pieces showcased? How about that awesome splatter paint glass room the show took place in?! So whimsical!

As always, thanks for stopping by and come back tomorrow for another post :)

Hey Girlies,

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July! I spent it with my family in Brooklyn. We watched the legendary Macy's fireworks across the river in Williamsburg and spent much of yesterday at Coney Island. It was the first time in quite a few years that we decided not to spend it at Coney Island; we wanted to try something different. Plus, we were really disappointed with the show last year. If you're already thinking about coming to New York next year to watch the show, I suggest spending the day at Coney Island, so you can see the annual Nathan's hotdog eating contest and the evening in NYC or in Williamsburg to catch the Macy's show, the best in New York.

Anyway, for today's look, I wanted to wear these faux leather white leggings. I know you may be thinking, "leather leggings in summer, really?!" but these are ultra thin, so it works. Of course white goes with any color, but I loved how summery and refreshing it looked with this yellow blouse; it reminded me of lemonade for some reason, haha! Plus, since I'm fuller on the bottom portion of my body, the pop of color on top helps to balance that out, a tip I would suggest if you have a similar shape. Oh and how awesome are these heels?! I fell in love with the denim texture and paint splatter print, but as a heads-up, they're not all that comfy and run a 1/2 size small (I ordered a 1/2 size up). I plan on purchasing some insoles to help with the comfort because I HAVE TO wear these babies more often, such a statement!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll catch you tomorrow with a new post!

Hey Babes!

I'm very excited about today's blog post because it's an invitation for you to be apart of my very first pop up event! I've never hosted one before, so when Chloe + Isabel presented me with the opportunity, I couldn't turn it down, mainly because I love their pieces! As you may have noticed, I've kind of transferred over to more authentic pieces, although I still love costume jewelry. I'm aiming to build a timeless collection of beautiful pieces, which I hope some will one day become heirlooms. I love semi-precious and precious stones and when I learned that Chloe + Isabel work with such pieces (semi-precious) and that they're are hand made, I definitely took an interest.

I invite you all to check out their collection in the pop up I'm hosting here. I will be hosting the pop up for 3 days, starting today and ending Sunday the 5th. There are some awesome perks this weekend, such as being entered into a raffle drawing to receive 25% off your next order, after your purchase! The winner will be announced after the event has ended. Also, with orders over $100 you'll receive a free gift and free shipping! So happy shopping, I'm sure you'll find something you'll love. In the above photos, I'm wearing their Bora Bora open cuff, which features the opal stone, one of my personal favorites. Let me know what you decide to get and make sure to tag me on all photos with your pieces @jalisasfiles!
