Hey BEAUTIFUL ladies,

As you know from time-to-time, I like to get a little real on here and write a post about inner beauty. I feel it's very necessary for me to do this because as someone who has this internet platform, I want to really take advantage of inspiring all of you in more than one way. I mean, we are complex and what makes us that is the various components that make us who we are.

I want to let you all know that you're beautiful. Yes, YOU! I know it can be very easy and tempting to compare ourselves to other women and sometimes begin to feel insecure as a result of the little measure we give to ourselves compared to them, but I want to encourage you to stop it! It's not healthy comparing ourselves or even being competitive. Growing up, I always looked for ways to compete and if there wasn't an opportunity, I would create one, haha. As I've gotten older, I've learned that there is really no point or true advantage in seeking to be better than the next because there will always be someone better. What we should focus more on is being better than who we were yesterday, essentially competing against our own selves; learn to truly love ourselves and embrace the things that make us different. If it be the gap in your teeth, a crooked smile, or a bump on your nose, those things are what make you different and unique. I encourage you to focus on the features and qualities you have that you absolutely love. No, this is not being vein, it's simply seeing the best in your self. Of course there is a fine line between self-love and acceptance and conceit. The major difference is the first has to do with knowing our worth and the latter has to do with thinking we're better than the next, which is linked to the competition I spoke about before.

I strongly encourage you to start loving and accepting who you are today because now is a good place to start. Begin eating better, not so that you can have the "perfect" body and get all the hot guys, but so that you can take care of your body to ensure that you'll live a long and healthy life. What does this mean? It means to be mindful of what you're putting in your body and answering the question, will this make me healthier or will I regret this later? It also means getting more active, so that we can avoid any unwanted weight gain, which tends to make us feel more insecure. Next, take care of your hair, skin, and nails because let's face it, us ladies always feel better when we're primed. This doesn't mean that you have to go and get these all done professionally, learn to do it yourself, your wallet will thank you. Talking about skin, I've just begun using shea butter as a part of my nightly regimen to help nurture and enhance my skin's texture and glow, I'll be sure to keep you posted on the changes I notice, if any!

Lastly, and most importantly work on your thoughts; this will ultimately determine your behavior. Try to not only see the best in yourself, but in others too. Don't be the girl that gives dirty looks at the next, instead be the girl that compliments another woman. Even if she doesn't reciprocate, you know that you're confident and a true woman when you can see the best in another and not feel threatened. Also, try to eliminate people that are negative in your life, that don't support you, don't tell you the truth about yourself (even when it hurts, a real friend will always do this, but with good intentions!) and who are just Debbie Downers, always sad about something. Instead, seek to become friends with other women who are positive and like minded so that you can feed off each other and grow a good support system.

I honestly just wrote without thinking through what I wanted to say. This post is truly from the heart and I know that someone needed this; I know I always need a reminder! You all are so beautiful and special to me and I'm thankful to have met you and learned about some your wonderful blogs (to my fellow bloggers). Stay encouraged and  beautiful inside and out :)

Jalisa

Good morning loves,

Have you ever been on a crunch for time and didn't know what to wear? In those situations I often find that a maxi dress or skirt is my life saver, like today. I honestly didn't know what to wear and I was getting really frustrated gazing into my closet jam packed full of clothes and nothing to wear, lol! So, I decided to go with this monochromatic look. Both pieces are super comfortable on their own and when combined, ah, I felt like I was wearing pajamas! Monochrome is a great option for any body shape, just be sure to wear a color that you absolutely love and that looks amazing on you! It helps elongate and visually slim the body, but you all know how much I love my color, so this all grey had to feature some sort of pop and I opted for my favorite summer neon green bag. I swear, I've been wearing this bag way too much! I always make sure to remind my husband how often I wear my splurges, so that he considers that the next time I try to convince him another addition to my bag collection is necessary, lol.

Anyway, I thank you all for stopping by my blog and I hope you come back tomorrow for another post!

Happy Wednesday!

Today's post is going up a tad later than usual, I had a very hectic past two days and I'm so glad that today is starting to come to a close! It was such a beautiful day, I wanted to wear something extra summery and bold because the weather was beyond perfect. You've seen me wear these pants a few times, proving that printed pieces can be worn in more ways than you may think. I myself used to shy away from printed pieces because I would think, "how often will I be able to wear this?" Now of course you can't get away with wearing a printed piece within a week's time as you would with your favorite skinny jeans or shorts, but you can still get quite some use out of them. The last two times I styled these pants I wore a sold colored top, this time around I decided to do some pattern mixing. It was very simple, I started with a basic print, stripes that had the same colors found within these awesome pants and voila, the look came together perfectly!

I hope this post inspired you and don't forget to stop by again tomorrow for another post :)

Hey Girlies,

For today's post, I wanted to share some boots I'm absolutely loving for this fall and winter season. Even though we're mid-way through summer, I am starting to get a little itch for fall fashion because it's honestly my favorite season for styling. I love the layering and colors and all that comes with it. While I'm not rushing these fabulous summer days, I'm gearing us up for the months ahead so we can be ahead of the fashion game ;) What do you think of my selection? Is there any in particular that you're loving too? Share your favs with us in the comments!

Hey Ladies,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I LOVE being around nature, the beach, the park, the forest, it just ignites a whole realm of creativity and inspiration for me. I think it's so important to find time to just connect with our surroundings and put the phone away sometimes. Oh boy, did I just say that?! Haha! I for one know how hard it is to put the phone down and resist the temptation of scrolling through my Instagram feed or post what I'm doing or thinking on Twitter, but I challenge myself to do so often. I feel in this fast paced life, it's so easy to get lost in the scheme of doing things that we can get out of touch with ourselves. So when you're feeling like you're in a rut or in a bad or negative mood, take a break from life's demands and go to a park or beach and just simply RELAX!

Now on to my outfit, I love the simplicity of this look. It's very neutral, but the statement pieces add beautiful pops of color, dimension, and interest to the whole look. What I love about this maxi skirt is that it works with my curves, since it has narrow pleats, which prevent my already curvaceous hips from appearing that much wider. If you're bottom heavy like me, you know how frustrating it can be to find skirts that won't do that! Plus, it helps to elongate the body. There's been many stylists who have suggested that petite women refrain from maxi's because they can make them appear shorter. In this case, I have to disagree. The pleats and placing the skirt higher on the waist will help to elongate the legs, essentially making one appear longer and leaner ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by and I look forward to chatting with you again in tomorrow's post!
