Hello Loves,

Today's look was pretty much a classic combination of neutrals with a mixture of textures, which I love to embrace during this time of year, with a touch of color. It was unseasonably mild today, somewhere around 50°degrees! Since it was a little warmer than usual, I ditched the heavy jacket and opted for a jumper with a fur (faux) vest over and it kept me warm enough throughout the day. Plus, these leggings are extremely warm. I scored these on clearance at Zara back in the summer and I remember trying them on in the fitting room, sweating bullets because they're lined with a faux suede.

As you all can probably tell by now, I love combining leather and fur together. I feel they're a classic combination of textures and both keep you warm on their own and even more when combined. Since I was working with so many different shades of browns, I didn't want the look to appear bland and boring, so to spice things up a bit, I added a pop of color with a red purse. I have thoughts on recording a video discussing the different shapes and silhouettes of purses that I'd personally suggest for you all based on your body shape and height. Yes, believe it or not, there are certain styles that tend to flatter us more than others and you probably realized this when trying on purses and felt that some looked better on you than others; let me know if you're interested :)

Anyway, since this look features all neutrals, the color scheme would work for all of us, regardless of our skin-tones. However, placement of those colors may be something you want to keep in mind, since like any group of colors, darker shades slim and lighter shades highlight, think of it as a lot like highlighting and contouring when applying makeup. Below is a visual example of how I would suggest you style a look similar to the one I'm wearing, based on your body shape and height.

I would suggest the pairing I created above for all my apple shapes because the fur vest is in a darker shade of brown. One thing to keep in mind is that fur vests not only add texture to your look, they also add dimension and since my apple shaped beauties tend to already have voluptuous (you're gifted, love) upper bodies, to prevent from appearing too top heavy with the addition of the vest, is to select a color that is in a darker shade to deflect light, which reduces the creaion of visual weight, especially since I selected a sweater that's a lighter shade of brown, which will counteract the affect of the lighter shade. I also selected a lighter shade, more of a golden one, for the bottoms instead of the chocolate brown I wore, since it'll make your already lean and slender legs appear even more slender, which isn't necessary. In this case, I wouldn't suggest these golden leggings to all my cool tones and dirty blondes. The reason is that it can make your hair appear brassy or greenish, instead opt for just a lighter shade of brown.

As for my petites, the reason I would suggest this look for you, regardless of your body shape, is because the brown vest and golden leggings will make you appear taller, if that's the look you want to achieve. Not to say that all petites want to appear taller, this is only a suggestion if you do like to consider this when creating looks. The reason this combo would create that effect is because it's essentially a monochrome pairing, since they both share the same hues and undertones. Plus, with the addition of nude shoes, your legs will appear even longer. Remember that in my video on selecting the best nude shoes for your skin-tone, I mentioned that not all nudes are created equal! Always select a shade that best compliments your individual skin color and tone.

I hope you all found this post helpful! Check back tomorrow for a video that will provide some simple tips on how to wear jumpsuits and rompers during these colder winter months...well, at least I think it'll begin to get colder again around here!

Happy Monday, everyone!

I hope you all are having an amazing start to the week so far. Let's start getting happy about Mondays; and every day for that matter because every day we have a chance to live and express ourselves freely in our clothing and in the outfits we put together. Today, I felt like wearing something a bit edgy and rocker chic, which is why I created this pairing. I also wanted to mix fabrics and textures because that is what fall and winter is all about, since layering helps warm us up more, especially on days when it's not necessary to wear a huge coat, but it's still a nippy!

In my video on styling a fur vest (which you can watch here), I created a look similar to this, layering a fur vest over this leather jacket. The contrast in texture and color really helped to enhance the look I was going for. The vest helps to add some dimension, which is again great to amplify your fall or early winter look. I added the magenta colored purse to help bring out the subtle feminine vibe I wanted to create and establish ,and I loved how the cranberry vest and magenta looked together as well!

When it comes to the different body shapes, I believe that this look would be great for all. The one thing I would suggest you pay attention and perhaps alter according to your height, are the boots. If you're petite, ankle boots look best, since they expose more of the leg. However, that doesn't mean you have to write off knee or thigh high boots. When wearing boots such as those, I would only suggest doing so if the boots are the same or within the same color scheme as your bottoms. For instance, if you wanted to recreate this look wearing black jeans or leggings, you could certainly get away with wearing taller boots, in fact, they would actually make you appear taller and leaner, since no one would be able to tell where the boots start and finish.

Another thing to consider is if you have fuller calves. I wouldn't necessarily suggest wearing boots that stop around where the fullest part of your calves are because they'll only make them appear fuller, especially if you're petite and have full calves, they can make you appear short and stout. In a situtation like that, I would suggest boots that don't go any higher than your ankles. Again, these are only suggestions, at the end of the day, I want you to wear what you feel most comfortable and confident in :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you felt inspired!

COAT: Calvin Klein (Nordstrom Rack)// ROMPER: Marshalls// LEGGINGS: Marshalls// BOOTS: Nine Wes// SCARF: Jones New York (TjMaxx)

Hey Girlies,

Today it began to snow for the first time in New York and I honestly don't know how I feel about it. I mean, last year was pretty traumatizing for all of us in the Northeast because of the several intense snow storms we experienced. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful to look at and it sure does help us all get into the holiday spirit, but it does get annoying when it comes to shoveling and trying to maneuver around the streets that have yet to be plowed, ugh, I'll just embrace it for now.

Even though it was snowing (it didn't actual begin to stick until after we took these photos), I wanted to wear this black and white striped romper that I purchased over the summer. I've been planning on wearing it with black leggings and booties for a while, actually since I purchased it when it was somewhere around 80 degrees... because in fashion, our minds are always ahead of the season! I had purchased this red coat in the early weeks of fall and thought it would look great with the romper, adding some color and festiveness and I love the way it came together and I hope you all do, too!

Now, when it comes to horizontal stripes, as seen in the romper, it can be a bit tricky, when we're dealing with placement and our body shapes. Generally speaking, you'd want to place these sort of stripes in areas where you'd want to add some visual width, but since this romper features the pattern throughout the entire piece, the placement of other pieces and accessories can truly make all the difference. The fact that I'm wearing a scarf looped around my neck in a way that drapes loosely in the front adds some visual length because it causes the eye to look downwards, where the scarf ends and where the tassels are. This, in fact, is a great way to wear a scarf if you're petite because it will visually elongate your upper body. I know, it seems very simple, but sometimes it's those simple things that really make all the difference in an outfit and for our figures!

Speaking of elongating, another lengthening effect we've created here is the black legging and black bootie combination. Since the two colors are the same, it creates the illusion of a longer leg. This is also why I'd suggest booties over every other style of boot to those who are petite or who have shorter legs. The more of your leg that's exposed, the longer they'll appear. Since we used two methods of elongation, the width created by the romper is visually balanced out...mission accomplished ;)

I hope you all enjoyed this post and felt inspired to recreate it on yourselves! Check back tomorrow for a video featuring holiday outfit ideas!

Hello my loves!

To continue on with my holiday gift guide, I wanted to share my current perfume faves! If you're like me and love a good, long lasting perfume, then these five are sure to make you happy and smelling good! I have four out of the five, the fifth one I'm waiting to get my hands on, which is the Mark Jacob's Honey, ahem...honey, I hope you're reading this post ;) Here are my thoughts of each and a brief description of the scents:

1. Marc Jacob's Oh, Lola! is the one I wear the most and every time I wear it, someone always asks what I'm wearing. It has a soft flowery scent, which I think is perfect to be worn during the day

2. Marc Jacob's Honey smells sweet and fruity and I feel could be worn both during the day or night.

3. Gucci Guilty for Her is a bold, earthy, and romantic scent, mainly because it contains amber, adding to its intensity. This would be the perfect perfume to wear at night for girl's night out or dinner date (2nd date).

4. J'adore by Dior has a light, flowery scent. Although it's light, it's long lasting and this is also a perfume I get asked about a lot. I would suggest wearing this during the day or on a first date, since the smell isn't too strong.

5. DKNY My NY is more of a playful scent, having a range and combination of flowers, vanilla, and fruit. I would suggest this to be worn the during the day or for a fun evening with friends.

Once you purchase or receive your perfume(s), it's important to know where and how to apply it, to ensure that you'll get the most out of your scent(s). I have a video which explains that and more, which you can watch HERE!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I trust that you found this post helpful!
