Hey Guys and Gals,

I wore this look on Sunday for brunch and I absolutely love the way it turned out and I of course hope you do as well!

Have you ever gone shopping and saw an item that you immediately thought would look fantastic paired with something else you just recently purchased? Well, that was the case with these items. The first purchase were these floral oxfords. I bought them because I envisioned myself wearing and styling them in a multitude of ways, which is essential. If you don't see yourself wearing an item in various ways in your mind at the store, chances are you won't even end up wearing it at all, at least that's been my personal experience! Anyway, the second item in the look I found was this oversized cardigan and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to pair it with an earth-toned colored bottom, but they didn't have any at the store at the time, so I purchased it and kept the style idea in the back of my mind. Then, about a week later, I "accidentally" walked into TjMaxx and found these bottoms and there you have it, the look was born in that very aisle, in my head!

The entire look is reflective of one of my favorite boroughs, Brooklyn. It's, I feel, the most eclectic borough in terms of style and creativity, which is why I love it so much. You can easily become inspired in so many ways just by sitting on a bench and observing people walking around so serenely. The whole atmosphere is pretty chill, perfect for a person like me who's always on the go or feels that he/she should always be doing something at every given moment, it'll inspire them to chill, as it does me!

One thing I've noticed, especially in areas such as Park Slope (my favorite hang out) and Dumbo, is that the style is very laid back, earthy, and menswear is pretty much the "it" factor in every outfit. Whether it be in oxfords, or fedoras, or structured purses that resemble briefcases, there's often that finishing touch, which you can see depicted in my outfit.

So, what inspires you? Is there a city or town by where you live or that you like to visit that speaks your style language? Share in the comments' section, I'd love to read about it!

Hey babes,

This past Saturday, we celebrated my birthday, since last week, Eddie wasn't feeling well and we had to cancel our dinner plans. Thankfully, this time around, the hubs was feeling better!

When contemplating on what to wear, I decided I wanted to go for a dressy look that exuded fall in colors and prints, so I selected this beautiful pencil skirt to start. After studying my closet for what seemed like hours for the perfect blouse, I thought this black and white piece would look perfect paired with it. I actually had intentions of stopping there, until Eddie told me how cold it was outside. I was going to reach for my leather jacket and was reminded of this chic leopard printed one, hanging right beside it. I thought it would finish the look rather nicely, while adding more print into the mix, making it more fun, daring, and interesting...a perfect birthday look.

Creating an outfit with mixed prints isn't easy, although there are some basic tips to remember, which I've discussed on the blog before, sometimes, you just feel that the prints simply go well together. A feeling any fashionista I'm sure understands and has experienced before!

So what do YOU think of the look?!

Hello ladies,

One of the trends I'm loving and particularly interested in this season, is the sports luxe trend, a look I'm sporting today. The reason I'm excited about it is because it's comfy and depending on how you wear and mix and match it, stylish as well! This certainly is a combination that I'm sure many of us would appreciate, since often times, the trends that are taken from and inspired by the runways are anything but comfy, let alone practical for everyday wear.

The key, I feel, to pulling off a successful sports luxe look is to work with sporty pieces that are in basic or monotonous color palettes; it'll give off more of that luxe part of the trend. To prevent your outfit from appearing boring or drab, you can add hints of color in your accessories. In my look, I maintained more of a monotonous color scheme, which was just my personal preference in this case. I chose to pair the jersey inspired tee shirt with black skinny jeans because it features a leather strip on each side, which blended well with the horizontal stripes on the shirt. Plus, stripes are a bit synonymous with sports. To intensify the theme, I added these sneaker wedges, which you've seen before. The black jean and sneaker combo created a lean and lengthening effect to the legs because the same color was used for both, a trick I often emphasize to accomplish this effect. If you wanted to add more of a glam (luxe) vibe, you could sport a red or bold lip. I had intentions of wearing a plum lip to correspond with the shirt, but decided that I wanted the sporty vibe to be more dominant, which is why I opted for nude lips.

What do you think of the sports luxe trend? Is it a trend you're will to try? I personally think it's one that's universally flattering, since the pieces tend to have more of a masculine feel, allowing you to choose where you want the attention to be place and it's a trend that's found in numerous pieces, in both tops and bottoms, as well as single pieces, such as shapeless dresses.

GO AHEAD, RECREATE THE LOOK!

Hello Beauties!

Last night I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a launch party, hosted by Red Light PR, for a beautiful and unique jewelry line, Anitanja, named after the St. Lucia based creator and designer.  Her line is intended to help reconnect people with nature and earth; she mentions, "quite often, we forget our true beginnings and we're so far removed. I want my clients to feel just a little bit closer to nature when wearing my pieces. They are all inspired by the beautiful island of St. Lucia and each is taking inspiration from either the forests, the Caribbean Sea or some element of my life here."
