Hello loves,

Last night I decided to wear a very 60s inspired outfit for date night. I've mentioned to you before how the 60s and 70s are the eras in fashion that I personally identify with the most. I think it has a lot to do with the youth and boldness that encompasses the styles of those decades that I admire. In this case, the outfit I chose best represents the 70s overall. During this time there were a lot of vests, fur, and bell bottom jeans worn, amongst many other distinctive trends that I can go on and on about. Let's break down the entire look and discuss why it would work for you

I chose to wear a black turtle neck paired with a beige faux fur vest because I felt that the black pulled out the darker browns and black within the vest, which kept me warm and cozy much of the night, since the temp did drop, I do feel the soft nudges of winter! I decided to wear a pair of flared jeans, which I believe are flattering for those who have curvaceous hips, such as my fellow pear and hourglass shapes, which I think this outfit would look great on. When worn with heels, flared jeans can help balance out the width of the hips by mimicking them below, creating a long and lean effect overall. It's when we choose to skip the heels that I feel we can end up appearing a bit stubby in the legs and the hips can appear much wider.

In addition, this pairing would also look exceptional on all my apple and rectangular shapes as well. The reason is because we have a nice flow of balance all throughout the outfit. The black turtle neck (if you are paler, I suggest wearing navy instead, it's less harsh against the skin. In your case, you never want to wear colors that are closest to your face in an extremely dark color, it'll wash you out and bring out darker tones in your face, making you appear unlively and unhealthy, we don't want that!) helps visually slim larger arms, the bust, and midsection. Even though we have a vest that offers texture and dimension, which can in most cases make my apple and inverted triangle shaped ladies appear larger in the bust (it creates this effect for the pear and rectangular shapes), we have the addition of the waist belt, which helps visually slim the upper body overall. I will suggest that if you are an apple shape you place the belt right where your rib cage is instead of where your natural waist is (under you rib cage), this is most flattering for you. The flared jeans will add some volume and visual weight to the slender legs of the apple, inverted triangle, and rectangular shapes, thus visually balancing out the entire frame.

I hope you enjoyed the post and that it inspired you in creating a similar pairing. In this case, the exact look I created would work for all the shapes mentioned above. If you have any additional questions, leave them in the comments' section and I will be sure to respond with my best suggestion(s)!

Love you lots and I appreciate your time!

Jalisa

Hey Girlies!

Today, I felt like doing something different with my hair, so I tried out this three tail braid that I saw MiMi from Luxy Hair do in a tutorial (she's the BEST at hair tutorials!). It's actually very easy to do, despite how complex it may appear. I left some pieces out to curl, giving it somewhat of a messy look, which I really liked. It helped soften the look a bit, making it both classy and fun.

As for my outfit, I woke up knowing that I wanted to wear this houndstooth printed blouse, but I just didn't know with what. I was thinking of black or dark washed jeans, but I felt either of those options would've made the look too dressy and that wasn't the overall vibe I wanted to create. Instead, I selected these medium washed jeans that have a bit of distressed detailing on them, which helped pull out that relaxed undertone, captured with my messy braid hair-do. To further enhance the tone, I cuffed the bottom portion of the jean and paired them with open toed shoes. This would be a perfect look for walking around the town, window shopping, or for meeting up with the girls for a coffee break, as well as for work, if a blazer were thrown over, the jeans were un-cuffed, and paired with pointed-toe shoes.

One thing I absolutely love about creating a pairing is mixing and matching different tones and styles together to create an eclectic look, which I think defines my overall style, for the most part. While I do have a tendency to favor glam, I am not one to turn my back on any style. Being unpredictable with your creations is mysterious and keeps your wardrobe interesting, wouldn't you say?! That's part of the reason you often see me wearing many of the same pieces, but styled in different ways, exuding different styles. That and I'm unfortunately not a Rockefeller to afford only wearing things once, lol!

Anyway, thank you so much for stopping by and check back tomorrow. I'll be creating a pairing using a different technique :)

RECREATE THE LOOK!

Hey Babes,

As many of you know and can see, the blog has gotten a makeover! I'm really excited about it and I hope you are, too! We're still making some changes and updates, so if anything looks a little weird, it's because of that :) Oh, I'm also really excited about the translation option, which can be found at the top right corner of every page on the site. Now, you can read all of my blog posts in over 60 different languages, which makes me really happy, since I know that I have readers from all over the world!

As for my outfit, I wore this out shopping with Eddie yesterday. Both of our birthdays are this month, his actually passed (it was two weeks ago), but he wanted to go to the outlet stores to do a little b-day shopping, so he held off until yesterday. It was drizzling on and off, so I decided to break out my pink rain boots. I'm telling you, these boots make me feel so happy and cheerful, even on the most rainy and gloomy days because they're super pretty. I actually feel excited when I know I'll be out in the rain because I can wear them :) I now want a red red pair, so my eyes will be on the look out for a great pair and deal, but these, these are totally fab!

I purchased this fur vest about a week ago at Tjmaxx, as well as the burgundy one you all saw in my fur vest video. Remember I told you that I was on the look out for more fur vests a few weeks ago? Well, while strolling through Tjmaxx, I just stumbled upon those two and had to get them, especially since they were only 20 bucks each! This color in particular can be hard to find, especially for a good deal, which is why I had to snag it right away and suppressed any thoughts of holding off. For the outfit, I felt that it looked great with the pink boots and blended well with the leopard printed scarf, although it kind of reminds me more of a tiger's coloring just with leopard spots.

Overall, I felt comfy while looking chic on a rainy day, which is always great and surprisingly not so hard to do, as long as you have few eye catching pieces that are practical enough for you to wear all day. So what do you think of the look?
