Hello Beauties,

My favorite season of all, is definitely fall. When summer says good-bye, it truly is bittersweet because as much as I love the warm weather and trips to the beach (although I didn't visit the beach that much this year), like the next girl, I know she'll be back and the start of my most favorite time of year has arrived. There's so much to love and enjoy during the fall, such as the leaves changing, which is truly one of the most beautiful transitions to see take place in New York, as well as the cozy cardigans and cute boots, plus the arrival of the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Late at Starbucks ;)

For today's look, I wore a lightweight cardigan that adds the perfect amount of warmth, which is perfect for fall days because it's often cooler in the mornings and warmer as the day progresses. My favorite part of this look, however, are these boots! I absolutely love them and I couldn't wait to wear them. I believe I only wore them a couple of times last year, but I do plan on wearing them more this season because they're everything! I loved the way they worked together with the cardigan, giving off somewhat of a Mayan vibe, which has been super popular this past summer into fall. We've seen quite a bit of aztec print and  inspired clothing for the past few years, now I'm beginning to see more Mayan inspired pieces in prints, colors, and patterns and I'm really loving it. What do you think? Is it a trend you'd be willing to try?

Hey Guys and Gals,

I wore this look on Sunday for brunch and I absolutely love the way it turned out and I of course hope you do as well!

Have you ever gone shopping and saw an item that you immediately thought would look fantastic paired with something else you just recently purchased? Well, that was the case with these items. The first purchase were these floral oxfords. I bought them because I envisioned myself wearing and styling them in a multitude of ways, which is essential. If you don't see yourself wearing an item in various ways in your mind at the store, chances are you won't even end up wearing it at all, at least that's been my personal experience! Anyway, the second item in the look I found was this oversized cardigan and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to pair it with an earth-toned colored bottom, but they didn't have any at the store at the time, so I purchased it and kept the style idea in the back of my mind. Then, about a week later, I "accidentally" walked into TjMaxx and found these bottoms and there you have it, the look was born in that very aisle, in my head!

The entire look is reflective of one of my favorite boroughs, Brooklyn. It's, I feel, the most eclectic borough in terms of style and creativity, which is why I love it so much. You can easily become inspired in so many ways just by sitting on a bench and observing people walking around so serenely. The whole atmosphere is pretty chill, perfect for a person like me who's always on the go or feels that he/she should always be doing something at every given moment, it'll inspire them to chill, as it does me!

One thing I've noticed, especially in areas such as Park Slope (my favorite hang out) and Dumbo, is that the style is very laid back, earthy, and menswear is pretty much the "it" factor in every outfit. Whether it be in oxfords, or fedoras, or structured purses that resemble briefcases, there's often that finishing touch, which you can see depicted in my outfit.

So, what inspires you? Is there a city or town by where you live or that you like to visit that speaks your style language? Share in the comments' section, I'd love to read about it!

Hello ladies,

One of the trends I'm loving and particularly interested in this season, is the sports luxe trend, a look I'm sporting today. The reason I'm excited about it is because it's comfy and depending on how you wear and mix and match it, stylish as well! This certainly is a combination that I'm sure many of us would appreciate, since often times, the trends that are taken from and inspired by the runways are anything but comfy, let alone practical for everyday wear.

The key, I feel, to pulling off a successful sports luxe look is to work with sporty pieces that are in basic or monotonous color palettes; it'll give off more of that luxe part of the trend. To prevent your outfit from appearing boring or drab, you can add hints of color in your accessories. In my look, I maintained more of a monotonous color scheme, which was just my personal preference in this case. I chose to pair the jersey inspired tee shirt with black skinny jeans because it features a leather strip on each side, which blended well with the horizontal stripes on the shirt. Plus, stripes are a bit synonymous with sports. To intensify the theme, I added these sneaker wedges, which you've seen before. The black jean and sneaker combo created a lean and lengthening effect to the legs because the same color was used for both, a trick I often emphasize to accomplish this effect. If you wanted to add more of a glam (luxe) vibe, you could sport a red or bold lip. I had intentions of wearing a plum lip to correspond with the shirt, but decided that I wanted the sporty vibe to be more dominant, which is why I opted for nude lips.

What do you think of the sports luxe trend? Is it a trend you're will to try? I personally think it's one that's universally flattering, since the pieces tend to have more of a masculine feel, allowing you to choose where you want the attention to be place and it's a trend that's found in numerous pieces, in both tops and bottoms, as well as single pieces, such as shapeless dresses.

GO AHEAD, RECREATE THE LOOK!

Hello loves,

So today's my birthday! I want to thank all of you who've wished me a Happy Birthday on my social media outlets, you truly helped make this day extra special. It means so much that you all took the time to say your kind words and birthday wishes, especially since we've never met. It's such an amazing feeling to know that I have this internet family of supportive and encouraging women. You continue to put smiles on my face, often times when I'm not having such a good moment or day, I get a tweet or message from one of you telling me how thankful you are for my work. So I wanted to write a post thanking you all for you support, love, and encouragement. I know I always tell you that it means everything, but it really does :)

XO,

Jalisa

Hey Babes,

As many of you know and can see, the blog has gotten a makeover! I'm really excited about it and I hope you are, too! We're still making some changes and updates, so if anything looks a little weird, it's because of that :) Oh, I'm also really excited about the translation option, which can be found at the top right corner of every page on the site. Now, you can read all of my blog posts in over 60 different languages, which makes me really happy, since I know that I have readers from all over the world!

As for my outfit, I wore this out shopping with Eddie yesterday. Both of our birthdays are this month, his actually passed (it was two weeks ago), but he wanted to go to the outlet stores to do a little b-day shopping, so he held off until yesterday. It was drizzling on and off, so I decided to break out my pink rain boots. I'm telling you, these boots make me feel so happy and cheerful, even on the most rainy and gloomy days because they're super pretty. I actually feel excited when I know I'll be out in the rain because I can wear them :) I now want a red red pair, so my eyes will be on the look out for a great pair and deal, but these, these are totally fab!

I purchased this fur vest about a week ago at Tjmaxx, as well as the burgundy one you all saw in my fur vest video. Remember I told you that I was on the look out for more fur vests a few weeks ago? Well, while strolling through Tjmaxx, I just stumbled upon those two and had to get them, especially since they were only 20 bucks each! This color in particular can be hard to find, especially for a good deal, which is why I had to snag it right away and suppressed any thoughts of holding off. For the outfit, I felt that it looked great with the pink boots and blended well with the leopard printed scarf, although it kind of reminds me more of a tiger's coloring just with leopard spots.

Overall, I felt comfy while looking chic on a rainy day, which is always great and surprisingly not so hard to do, as long as you have few eye catching pieces that are practical enough for you to wear all day. So what do you think of the look?
