Happy Saturday!

It's the second day of spring and let me just say, it doesn't feel or look like it at all here in New York. Yesterday, we had snow and it's been freezing; I don't remember it ever being like that in years past. It's so weird because last week had days that felt more like spring. I guess winter doesn't want to let go! With that, I've been hesitant to pack away my winter pieces, which includes my chunky cowl neck sweater I'm wearing here. Since it hasn't been that cold that I needed to wear a heavy coat, I opted for some basic layering to keep me warm. One of my favorite ways to wear a fur (faux) vest during the fall and start of spring, is to layer it over a leather jacket. It provides some dimension and of course, added warmth. I feel this look would be great for a night out on the town, if you're experiencing some colder weather, which I know many of you are; I've read some posts on Instagram!

On another note, how awesome is the graffiti on this wall, which has such a great message, "all we got is us." It's so true. All we have in life is each other, we all need one another, yet many people tear each other down in so many ways. We can change this, though. Let's purpose to be kind and treat others how we'd like to be treated, which will then spark a change in who we meet (hopefully) and so it will continue and maybe, just maybe, the world can become a better place :)

Have a fun and chic weekend!

Hey Girlies,

Spring will officially arrive tomorrow! With that, there are some key pieces and colors that I think are perfect as we begin to transition over from winter, one of which is suede. It's a great piece to have and wear during spring because it will still keep you warm, since it's leather, yet the texture is lighter, softer and comfortable to move around in. Plus, it's a great option for a daytime to look, if you didn't want to wear a darker leather jacket. I personally prefer a suede jacket in a lighter color, such as pink or nude because they enhance the spring like feel. Plus, they blend easily with an array of colors!

In this look, I'm wearing a blush toned faux suede jacket with a waterfall effect; a softer alternative to a motto style jacket. I paired it with a fairly neutral palette and a pop of pattern in my scarf, for some extra warmth and interest. Since I wanted to go for a softer, more daytime feel, I decided to wear a medium washed jean. You've heard me mention many times how light-medium washes gives off not only a spring/summer feel, but also a more daytime feel, because it's lighter. This may be something you want to keep in mind when creating a casual spring outfit, if you've ever questioned which of your rinses are best during this time of year. Since we are still transitioning, you can of course continue to wear your darker washes, so don't put them away just yet!

I hope you found this post helpful and that it inspired you in recreating it! Below is an alternative option for my apple shapes as well as those who have longer legs and a shorter torso and wish to visually lengthen it. I am wearing a version that would be suitable for the pear, rectangular, and hourglass shapes

Hey Girlies,

Today's post is one that I feel truly represents my personal style; glam and girly! I often say that when you don't know what to wear, black and white are sure to come to the rescue! What I love about these two classic color pairings, is that there are so many pieces that incorporate both, essentially making it much easier to look polished and put-together, even if you weren't necessarily trying, like with this faux fur coat! I believe faux fur pieces are essential in every woman's closet, regardless of her personal style because they can be worn and styled in so many different and unique ways that will be sure to exude the mood of choice. When it's a black and white fur, the possibilities are truly endless! To make the look more glam, I paired it with an embroidered top and wide legged jeans. I need to get myself a pair of black aviators because that would've really completed the look, which still looks great without, but would've looked better :) I always suggest pointed-toe shoes when wearing wide legged denim because I feel it counteracts the width when some length is added.

Below are some suggestions I created on wearing a fur coat for your body shape, I hope you find it helpful! PS: I'm wearing the pear shape version :)

Hey Girlies,

I trust that you're all having a relaxing Sunday and preparing your minds for tomorrow's grind, hey, that rimmed! I wore this outfit earlier today for brunch with my boo. The weather dropped all of a sudden and it was pretty cold, so I decided to wear an all dark outfit. I wanted to do something other than the typical all black outfit, which I love, but I felt navy would give it a different spin; I don't tend to see a lot of monochromatic navy looks.

Navy is a cool toned color, which means that it looks best with silver, but that doesn't mean it can't be worn with gold! I would suggest if you're cool toned to go for an all navy look with some silver accents, since it's most flattering with your skin-tone. If you are warm or neutral, you can go for the gold accents (or silver, if you're neutral), as I did here. If you're not sure if you're cool or warm toned, I actually have a YouTube video that explains how to determine which you are and with some suggestions for the best colors to wear, which you can watch right HERE

Monochromatic looks are also great for making the body appear taller and leaner, which is why it's a styling strategy that would work for all body shapes and heights. If you are taller and don't wish to add any additional height, then you may want to avoid this method, since it has that automatic affect. What I like to do is add a belt of some kind to break up and re-establish my upper and lower portions, since with this method the body just appears as one and not sections. This is something I want my rectangular shapes and those with long legs or torsos to consider; adding a belt can make a world of a difference! Plus, I feel it keeps the entire look polished and clean.

So what do you think? Is this look perhaps an idea for tomorrow or someday this week? I hope!

Thanks for stopping by!

It's Friday, which means many of us will be going out tonight to start off the weekend! I believe this look is perfect for a Friday night out because it's edgy, yet chic. If you ever find yourself at a loss of ideas for a night out, you can never go wrong with black and nude. If you don't have anything nude, no worries, black and white would also work ;)

I absolutely love this blazer, which I purchased over a month ago; it goes with everything! It was inspired by Kim Kardashian's favorite Balmain leather blazer that she's been  wearing a lot. I do want to mention that if you do purchase it, it does run a bit small; the UK sizes run smaller than the U.S. I ordered the 6 and it's a little snug on the arms. I'm typically a 0, 2, or XS in blazers. What I love about it is that it can be worn over a dress, with blue or black jeans, leggings, or even a pair of dressier shorts, as it begins to warm up. I decided to pair it with a pair of mid-rise black jeans with a leather trim because I liked how it blended with the leather blazer, but you could of course pair it with a pair of plain or distressed black jeans. When it comes to shoes, you could either wear nude or black. Both these colors will help to elongate the body, providing height and a leaner effect to the thighs.

I hope you enjoyed this post! This look would be great for all of the body shapes, with some minor adjustments. I'd suggest the white blazer look for my pear shapes, as it will highlight the upper body :)
